| Resumo | The aim of the study is to evaluate the correlation between the characteristics of local geomorphometry and the structural composition of the vegetation of the Tapajos National Forest in order to verify associations and interdependences between those two groups of variables. Allied to this, we seek to estimate the diameter at breast height (DAP), total height (HT) and canopy openness (AD) for study sites using regression analysis. The data were extracted from local geomorphometric TOPODATA (Geomorphometric database of Brazil). Data analysis was based on analysis of canonical correlation and regression analysis. The results show that the groups considered are not independent and the inter-group associations are established primarily by the influence of higher elevations, low cosine values of the aspect, moderate slopes on the distribution of large diameter trees, low heights, and a more closed canopy. Regression analysis shows that the geomorphometric variables can be used in models with attributes of forest structures such as AD, DAP and HT, but it should be taken care of possible under or overestimation. |
